With online shopping reaching record levels, a new area of frustration is leaving customers irate, none more so than those trying to reach customer services at Swedish furniture giant Ikea.
There have been scores of complaints that it is impossible to get through to an agent to deal with problems. Instead, callers are left on hold listening to ABBA songs.
Admittedly, many are timeless classics, but not much use to those wondering why their wardrobes haven’t arrived or goods have been damaged.
Imagine the scene: Ring, Ring, and then another ABBA song kicks in. Irate customer: Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! an agent.
No such luck, the songs just go On And On And On while the customer silently prays someone will answer the phone and ask if they have a query. The answer is obviously: I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do.
The Swedes may have a dour reputation, but someone in the Ikea organisation must have a sense of humour with its playlist.
