A special installation and wall of memorabilia celebrating the remarkable history of Belfast’s landmark Europa Hotel has been erected in the lobby to mark its 50th birthday.
The establishment has hosted more than its fair share of luminaries down through the years, perhaps the most famous being US President Bill Clinton, who booked out 110 rooms for his entourage when he visited the city in 1995.
Other notable past guests from a long list of celebrity names include Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Bob Dylan, Lionel Richie, Victoria Beckham and Elvis Costello and, given the reality of life in Belfast in the 70s, 80s and 90s, a who’s who of journalism’s finest.
The new installation includes a ‘wall of fame’ with a full list of the celebrities and movie stars who have passed through the hotel’s iconic revolving doors and marble columns.
Regularly described as the ‘most bombed hotel in Europe’, the installation may even give visitors something different to say about one of Belfast’s most famous spots.
