Is it possible that alien life-forms travelled billions of miles through unknown galaxies to Northern Ireland and then decided to give a man a lift to Bangor Marina?

That was the story he reported to the PSNI but, unsurprisingly, no action was taken.

Another five reports of UFOs in the skies above the province also failed to pique the interest of our finest detectives.

Interest in UFOs began in the mid 1900s and were even taken seriously during the Cold War with concerns they posed a threat to national security, mainly in the USA.

Most are commonplace objects or phenomena which stirred some over-active imaginations, although even experienced pilots have been taken in on occasion.

Sci-fi books and films have also built on the myth of flying saucers full of highly intelligent life-forms, some occasionally of malevolent intention, but so far the sightings have remained just that - fiction.

However with taxis at a premium during lockdown it might be wise to keep an open mind. Anyone got a telephone number for ET?
