Kathy O'Neill from Portglenone may be SuperValu's Supermum of the Year but, like all the other entrants, she probably just regards herself as a normal mum.
She has an onerous task looking after her son, who was diagnosed with cancer at just five months, and does a wonderful job fundraising for charities, but then mums are great at multi-tasking.
The real value of these competitions is to highlight the work of so many mums which is often taken for granted.
In the vast majority of cases they take the lead role in rearing the family and running the home, as well as following their own careers.
Sometimes supermum is not a strong enough description of the women who shape all our lives.
