Can you help wake the GIANT?
This Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th August, a sleeping 36-foot giant called Finn arrives in Warrenpoint in the hope that local residents and tourists can help wake him up.
Travelling across by ferry from Carlingford, giant Finn will move through Warrenpoint town centre as part of a noisy parade on Saturday 18th August at 4pm*, as his family ask the public to help them wake him.
On Sunday 19th August at 2pm and 4.30pm, his family will host an epic gathering, open to all families and ages, in hope they can finally stir him from his slumber. Wake the Giant is a two-day festival of superb entertainment and performance for all the family. From music, arts and crafts and speciality food stalls.
The man charged with designing and creating the narrative for this year’s show is renowned actor and writer, Dan Gordon. It will put his humorous signature and quirky style on this year’s story that will enthuse children and parents alike.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chair, Councillor Mark Murnin, said;
Wake the Giant is one of our most highly anticipated events within the summer programme. Every year the numbers keep growing and this year we don't expect that to change. Local businesses and traders across Warrenpoint really embrace this festival and the area has so much to offer visitors. I am really looking forward to seeing our locals Wake the Giant this year and having the creative genius of Dan Gordon involved means that families are in for a real treat.
*Those wishing to watch the parade on Saturday 18th August should arrive and be in position for 3.30pm ahead of its start at 4pm.
