Darren Cave signs for Raging Bull

Ulster and Ireland centre Darren Cave will be in House of Fraser on Wednesday 24th April to meet fans and customers - and of course sign anything from rugby balls to shirts.

Darren is helping to officially launch Raging Bull a men’s clothing brand with a rugby background. Founded by ex England and British & Irish Lion Phil Vickery the lifestyle collection has just arrived in the Victoria Square department store.

Darren and Phil will be fighting over the scissors for ribbon cutting rights at 1.30 pm in the Raging Bull Department and then hanging around to chat, sign stuff and pose for selfies. The House of Fraser team have urged fans of rugby to pop in and bring the family along.

Vickery as an ex farmer and winner of Celebrity Masterchef is also a keen foodie and is looking forward to linking up with the Ulster man. Darren’s own venture into the catering world with his café Guilt Trip in East Belfast will ensure there is plenty to talk about and business tips to be exchanged.

Raging Bull is the nickname given to Phil Vickery for his rampaging performances on the field.  Whilst Sir Clive Woodward was the coach he was told an opposition front rower was called ‘The Bull’ and Sir Clives’s response was to say he had one of his own and he was a ‘raging bull’. The name stuck to Vickery so when the front rower launched his own business it seemed the perfect name for his clothing company.

The brand has been a big success - building a cult following amongst rugby players and sportsmen due to its high quality fabrics and generous cut. ‘As a big guy myself I wanted my clothing brand to fit everyone.’ Vickery says. ‘ Rugby is such an inclusive sport so for me it was really important we had to be able to fit a scrum half right up to a tighthead prop so our sizing runs from small to 6XL’’

Vickery first thought about launching a clothing brand back in 2003 whilst sitting around his kitchen table with friends. They are felt his nickname would make a great name for a company and the first idea was to supply playing kits for grassroots rugby teams. This sportswear side of the business took off and then a few years later an MD was bought on board with a background in big menswear brands such as Timberland and Levis and the brand developed into the lifestyle label you see today.

Vickery is passionate about his brand and says the things sport taught him were vital for making a success of Raging Bull, ‘I believe totally in being part of a team and all working together to achieve an aim and I take that into my company and also make it the way we work with House of Fraser.  We are all in it together and it benefits everyone if we can keep retail thriving in city and town centres. House of Fraser do a brilliant job here in Belfast and it is so exciting for me to see my brand in the store hopefully playing a small part in encouraging customers to come in and visit.’

The Spring Summer range which will be available now in the store features plenty of classics with a twist and the fabrics and finishes are all of the highest quality. Designed in house the brand mixes a contemporary look with modern classics. Detailing sets Raging Bull apart with design flourishes found in linings, pocket hankerchiefs, cuffs and collars.  Shirts are a favourite amongst fans of the label with top class quality combined with plenty of choice in ginghams, stripes and modern prints.

Jackets range from beautifully cut Linen mix in the palest of blue finished with mis-matched cuff buttons.  Knitwear and polos hit the colour charts with aquas, lemons, pinks and sky blue perfect for brightening up the wardrobe.  There are plenty of nods towards the game of rugby with t shirts featuring rugby slogans and the little bull logo appears on all garments either embroidered or as a discreet metal pin badge.

For high summer expect chino shorts in raspberry and pale blue as well as the classics cargo shorts in navy and tan.

Darren Cave and Phil Vickery will be on the Raging Bull department from 1.30 pm on Wednesday 24th in House of Fraser, Victoria Square and available to sign autographs and pose for selfies.
