Belfast rivals to face off for a spot in Schools' Cup showpiece

By Ian Callender

The first finalist in this year's Ulster Bank Schools' Cup will be decided today, weather permitting, when Belfast Royal Academy take on RBAI at the Castle Grounds (3.30pm).

BRA joined their Belfast rivals in the semi-final with a 17 runs victory away to Limavady Grammar, the hosts being bowled out for 98.

Foyle College beat Wallace High on Monday by nine wickets in the third quarter-final and they will have home advantage in the semi-final against the winners of the game between Strabane Academy and holders Methodist College, which has been provisionally arranged for Friday, the original date for the cup final at Moylena, which will now be played on Friday week.

Meanwhile, following last week's Schools Trial, the selectors have included six players who were not available for that game, including captain Marcus Poskitt, to face MCC in the annual game at Osborne Park next Tuesday (11.30am).

Joining Poskitt in the team are Matthew Hutchinson, also from Coleraine Grammar, plus Rhys Logue, Kyle Magee, Reece Malone and Adam Reid.

Quarter-finals: BRA 115-8 (25 overs; R Kane 24, A Scott 3-10) Limavady Grammar 98 (2 3.2 overs; T Orr 26; L Johnston 3-13, H Warke 2-0, R Linden 2-31). BRA won by 17 runs.
