Carl Frampton to join Michael Conlan on New York double bill
Boxing promoter Bob Arum has flagged up the tantalising possibility of Belfast fighters and pals, Carl Frampton and Michael Conlan, boxing on the same bill in New York on December 14.
Conlan is already down to fight on Terence Crawford's world title defence bill at Madison Square Garden and, should Frampton recover from his freak hand injury in time, the former two-weight world champion will join him on the undercard, Arum says.
"Michael Conlan is scheduled to fight on that card," claimed Arum.
"If the hand comes around and it's in good shape, Frampton will also be on that card."
Frampton was due to make his return to the ring earlier this month against Emmanuel Dominguez in Philadelphia, only to fracture two bones in his hand when an ornamental pillar fell on him in his hotel lobby.
That means the 32-year-old hasn't fought since his defeat to Josh Warrington last December in their IBF world title bout.
Conlan will get another chance to further his world title aspirations when he comes up against a yet to be named opponent.
The 27-year-old defeated Diego Alberto Ruiz earlier this month in Falls Park at Feile an Phobail to improve his professional record to 12-0.
