Steven Ward is the latest Northern Ireland amateur boxer to turn professional.
Belfast man Ward, who boxed for the Monkstown club as a heavyweight, has teamed up with the MGM boxing set-up in Marbella, who also have Jamie Conlan and Marc McCullough in their ranks.
Ward, a Commonwealth Games silver medalist and former Irish senior champion, is convinced that his style can allow him to comfortably switch into the professional ranks.
"It's something that I think will suit my style as I have a good engine. I feel that coming down to light-heavyweight will suit me as it's a weight which I feel great at and have always preferred boxing at," said Ward.
Meanwhile, it seems that top cruiserweight prospect Tommy McCarthy will have his final eliminator for a shot at the British title on October 22 in Bolton.
The Belfast man's promoter Pat Magee won the rights to stage the fight with Matty Askin.
Frank Warren has won the right to stage Belfast man Anthony Cacace's British super-featherweight title eliminator with George Jupp with a date to be finalised.
