Promoter Frank Warren says August 18 is now the expected date for Carl Frampton's World title shot at Windsor Park.
Warren was outlining his big plans for the coming months with BT Sport, which includes the return to the ring on June 9 of former undisputed World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
As revealed in the Belfast Telegraph two weeks ago, Warren has been juggling August 11 and 18 but it now seems that the later date will be the one. Now it is a matter of who will be in the opposite corner. "Yeah the 18th is what we're looking at," said Warren during yesterday's press conference in London.
US promoter Bob Arum has ruled out WBO champion Oscar Valdez so the more likely option is for the Jackal to face the winner of the clash between IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby and Josh Warrington on May 19 in Leeds.
Selby, favourite to retain his title against Warrington, has made it clear that he would be willing to travel to Windsor to face Frampton, who picked up the WBO interim title when defeating Nonito Donaire last month.
Frampton said: "I'm 31 and the best is still to come. I've never been as confident about my ability. I can't wait for the Windsor Park fight."
