Golden boy Eamonn O'Kane set for blast-off

Eamonn O'Kane believes he is ready to take professional boxing by storm, starting with his debut on Saturday night.

The 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist is in a hurry to move up the middleweight rankings and will have two fights in three weeks.

O'Kane will be part of the supporting bill to Cavan man Andy Murray's European lightweight title fight with Gavin Rees in Cardiff on Saturday night before looking ahead to June 25 and his second fight in Craigavon Leisure Centre.

O'Kane said: "I'm really excited about making my debut and I want the fights to come thick and fast. To have two fights so quickly is great.

"I'm 29 so I can't hang around. I've got a lot of amateur experience behind me so that will help. I know the pro game will suit me even more because of my style of fighting."
