Ryan Burnett is the unified World bantamweight champion after unanimous decision

Belfast boxer Ryan Burnett is the unified bantamweight World champion after beating Zhanat Zhakiyanov at the SSE Arena.

Burnett, the IBF champ, has taken Zhakiyanov's WBA Super Bantamweight belt on a unanimous decision after a closely-fought 12 round battle. The judges' scores were 118-110, 119-109 and 116-112.

It was the first unification bout in Ireland and was won by the home fighter after a real slog against a relentless opponent.

Before the main event, James Tennyson defended his WBA International Super-Featherweight Championship crown with a third round knock-out against Darren Traynor and Paul Hyland Jnr kept hold of his IBF East/West Europe Lightweight Championship belt care of a contentious split decision after a hugely entertaining 12 round battle.
