Alan Green: Chelsea will pile more misery on Portsmouth

I’ll be at two major cup finals this coming week. I’ll have everything crossed for Fulham in Hamburg. I can’t express how much I want them to win.

Then it’s Wembley, where I hate to admit, I’m anticipating a dreadfully one-sided affair. Can anyone seriously contemplate Chelsea NOT winning? I fear it’ll be memorable only for the huge chip that Portsmouth will wear on their shoulder.

Avram Grant is a decent man as well as a good football coach but why does he blame everyone bar the club for the mess they’re in? Perhaps he wants to provoke bitterness within the ranks, players as much as supporters, which might spark another FA Cup upset.

And we already have the administrator banging on about how unfair it is of the Football Association and the Premier League to deny them their “rightful place in Europe.”

Portsmouth have NO right to play European football next season. Their shambolic mismanagement and maladministration is undeserving of any sympathy and a huge embarrassment for English football. Debt has risen to £135 million: pathetic. Chelsea should add to their misery.
