Alan Green: Kenny Dalglish left skating on thin ice at Liverpool

Kenny Dalglish will sit down with the Liverpool owners to review the season when it finishes. Every whisper heard suggests he’ll be allowed to continue his task of trying to restore the club to Champions League status. But how many of us forecast Damien Commolli’s sacking?

Even if Liverpool win their two remaining league games, starting tonight against Chelsea at Anfield, they cannot finish within 30 points of the two Manchester clubs!

That is completely unacceptable even when you acknowledge that many of the points dropped at home didn’t reflect what happened in the games. Liverpool weren’t quite as bad as the results suggest.

But I don’t think the Carling Cup triumph and the FA Cup Final make up for the obvious deficits elsewhere.

And one of them I cannot begin to understand? How has the wholly underwhelming Jordan Henderson made more outfield appearances than any other Liverpool player this season?

And Dalglish had a major say in buying him
