Aussie Dave Johnson ready to ramp up his North West 200 bid
Aussie Dave Johnson will be back at this year's Vauxhall International North West 200 on a full-blown Superbike with the Ice Valley BMW team.
Johnson, who is the fastest Australian ever around the Isle of Man TT circuit, had a pair of top 10 finishes at last year's Triangle showpiece, but will be hoping for bigger and better things come May.
"The team is taking a big step up going full factory with the new engine," said the Adelaide-based racer.
"The bike will also have Ohlins suspension for 2016 and should be a really competitive package at the North West."
Team boss Paul Shoesmith, who began racing in 1999, will also be competing at the May event on an Ice Valley Superstock specification BMW S1000RR, as will new recruit Sam West who made his Triangle debut last year.
Of his latest protégé, Shoesmith said: "Sam is an exciting new prospect and after a year of struggle on older machinery I think he will show his true potential on the BMW this season."
The team will also compete at the TT, Ulster Grand Prix and Macau GP during 2016.
In other news, this Saturday will see the North of Ireland Motor Club's March Hare Motocross event at the world famous Desertmartin track near Magherafelt.
Admission is just £5 with under-14s gaining entry free of charge.
