Dunlop planning to weave his magic at Frohburg races

By Paul Lindsay

Michael Dunlop, who I'm reliably informed, is back in gym and preparing vigorously for the 2015 season, will be the star attraction at this weekend's Frohburg Road Races in Germany.

Dunlop will ride for Rico Penzkofer's team at Frohburg, then compete for the same team at the Macau Grand Prix on November 15.

The Ballymoney man has been conspicuous by his absence of late in the media, but as previously mentioned, is already preparing methodically for 2015.

If paddock gossip is correct then a tie-up with Stuart Hicken's Buildbase BMW team has been ruled out for 2015, with BMW more likely to place Dunlop in a one-off set-up for the all important Isle of Man TT where he guided them to three race wins this year.

The 11-time TT winner has also been linked with Yamaha in previous seasons, but Shaun Muir's Milwaukee Power Tools backed Yamaha effort is set to concentrate on British Superbike in 2015 with the all new Yamaha R1.

Then the question is: who will run the official Yamaha effort between the hedges?

Could it be Northern Ireland based Mar-Train Racing who currently campaign Yamaha machinery in the British Championship with NW200 star rider Alastair Seeley, or possibly even Prodigy front man Keith Flint's TTC squad?

Or, will Yamaha allow Michael Dunlop to run his own MD Racing Yamaha set-up, similar to what he achieved this year with BMW, only stepping in to assist at the TT races?

Once thing is for sure – whoever secures the Ballymoney man's signature is virtually guaranteed wins at the TT next June.

So the reliable performer will be hot property in the coming weeks and months.
