By Graham Luney

Caroline O'Hanlon has spoken of her pride after being selected to fly the flag for Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth Games.

The netball star, who will compete in her second Games following Glasgow in 2014, is thrilled to be flag-bearer for Team Northern Ireland in the Carrara Stadium on Australia's Gold Coast at this morning's opening ceremony.

O'Hanlon, who will lead her side into battle against the hosts tomorrow, said: "It is a great honour to be named as TeamNI's flag-bearer for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

"I was shocked to be selected from what is a fantastic group of athletes here in Gold Coast.

"It is a real privilege and I look forward to leading the team into the Carrara Stadium for the ceremony to join with some of the world's leading athletes in a celebration of sport.

"The next couple of weeks will see some great competition and I look forward to a successful Games for TeamNI."
