Australia trio heading to Big Bash final
The trio are heading to Adelaide for the final but will not be joined by Billy Stanlake.
Travis Head, Alex Carey and D’Arcy Short will all take part in the final of the Big Bash after being an eleventh hour decision by Cricket Australia.
The trio are all in Australia’s Twenty20 squad for the tri-series against England and New Zealand, meaning they were expected to play no part in the showpiece finale of the domestic cup.
But CA announced it has made Head and Carey available for Adelaide Strikers, with Short lining up against them for Hobart Hurricanes.
Strikers seamer Billy Stanlake has not been granted the same dispensation due to concerns over the pace bowler’s workload.
Head, Carey and Short will head to Adelaide for Sunday’s BBL final following Australia’s T20 curtain-raiser against the Black Caps in Sydney and will then rejoin the national squad in Hobart on Monday.
Australia host England at the Blundstone Arena two days later.
