North West Senior Cup holders Brigade and Donemana, whose six-year reign was ended in last year's semi-final by the Beechgrove side, were yesterday drawn together in the quarter-finals of this year's competition.

The titanic clash takes place on Sunday June 9 at The Holm, the day after the teams meet in the Premiership at Beechgrove.

Both had comfortable first round victories on Saturday, and Brigade moved within two points of league leaders Donemana after beating defending champions Bready by 56 runs yesterday, Ifti Hussain top scoring with 55 from 83 balls.

It completed a bad weekend for Davy Scanlon's side who were knocked out of the cup by Glendermott, who were rewarded with a home draw against Championship side Killyclooney.

In yesterday's other Premiership games, postponed from the opening day, Coleraine and Eglinton recorded their first wins, the latter at Strabane Park where professional Mike Erlank scored 78 of the first 131 runs but Lee Ritchie's 28 at No 9 was just as important as Eglinton had only 38 runs to spare at the end.

Coleraine's margin of victory over Ballyspallen at Sandel Lodge was even less as the visitors recovered from 67-6 to fall just 20 runs short in pursuit of 196.

North West Senior Cup quarter-finals draw: Ballyspallen v Strabane, Donemana v Brigade, Glendermott v Killyclooney, Ardmore v Eglinton. Ties to be played on June 9.
