Cregagh have been given the best chance of preventing a clean sweep of Premier League sides reaching the semi-finals of the Gallagher Challenge Cup with a home draw in the last-eight.

The NCU Section One side will face Instonians on Sunday week, a repeat of the first-round game between the teams in 2018.

Instonians won that game by nine wickets but Cregagh spent that year avoiding relegation from the second tier while the Shaw’s Bridge side enjoyed a top-half finish in the Premier League. This year, Cregagh have won seven of their first nine league games while Instonians only claimed their first top-flight victory on Sunday.

Derriaghy, the Section One leaders, were not so lucky in the draw after being handed a quarter-final place because Waringstown had fielded an ineligible player in their victory at Queensway on Saturday; they are away to high-flying Civil Service North.

Holders CIYMS have been drawn away to Woodvale and Lisburn are at home to North Down, ironically both clashing the weekend before their first league meetings of the season.

Meanwhile, tickets have gone on sale for Ireland’s one-day international and T20 series against South Africa. All the ODIs are in Malahide next Sunday, Tuesday and Friday with the T20Is to follow at Malahide on July 19 and Stormont on July 22 and 24. Restricted to 560 spectators in Dublin and, currently, 500 in Belfast, tickets can be bought following the link on the cricketireland.ie website.
