Donemana do chasing pack a favour with win over leaders
Donemana did the chasing pack in the Long's SuperValu Premiership a huge favour yesterday when they inflicted a third defeat on leaders Bready at The Holm.
A total of 336-8 looked to put them out of sight but a superb ninth wicket stand between David Scanlon and Andy Lucas got the champions within 11 runs, Scanlon the last man out in the last over for 60, from 32 balls, having hit three fours and six sixes.
Strabane moved up to second place with a maximum points win against Fox Lodge, after matching exactly Donemana's total, thanks to a century from Aaron Gillespie and a whirlwind 40 not out from Peter Gillespie. Unlike, the leaders, however, the Foxes never threatened victory and fell 139 runs short.
Fox Lodge still have 30 points to spare over Ardmore who are running out of games. Their six wickets defeat by Coleraine yesterday leaves them adrift at the bottom with just four to play.
Brigade, meanwhile, were still celebrating their 12th Senior Cup triumph yesterday, with skipper Andy Britton named man of the match after taking 7-24 in the fourth innings at Eglinton. The home side were bowled out for 184, after being set 279 to win.
