ECB to investigate racial abuse allegation during Yorkshire’s clash with Surrey
The ECB is looking into the alleged incident at Scarborough.
The ECB is investigating after an allegation of racial abuse at Scarborough on Wednesday.
The incident is alleged to have happened during the County Championship match between Yorkshire and Surrey.
Ryan Patel, the 20-year-old Surrey all-rounder, is reportedly the player thought to have been abused by a spectator.
The governing body told Press Association Sport: “The ECB is working with the counties to establish the full facts.”
Surrey’s director of cricket Alec Stewart added: “We’re fully aware of this unsavoury incident and have every confidence that the ECB and Yorkshire will deal with it in the appropriate manner.”
