Two weeks after his century in a losing cause in the Challenge Cup final, Mark Ellison hit another 130 to help Civil Service North to a thrilling six wickets victory in yesterday's Robinson Services Premier League game against North Down
Ellison hit 10 fours and five sixes to take CSN to within 34 runs of their revised target of 277 in 38 overs. There were only 28 balls remaining but Morgan Topping saw them home with an undefeated half century.
This time it was North Down professional Ruhan Pretorius who ended up on the losing side despite batting through the innings for 124 from 102 balls with 18 fours and two sixes.
Yesterday's other rearranged game was just as exciting with Shane Getkate top scoring with 79 for Instonians but they fell four runs short of Carrick's 171,, last James Magee run out off the third ball of the last over.
Waringstown warmed up for their Irish Cup semi-final with a four wickets (DLS) victory over Instonians on Saturday.
Gary Kidd led the way with three wickets as the visitors were bowled out for 208 with Instonians skipper Andrew White (58) holding the innings together after Jordan McClurkin (39) and James Metcalfe (38) had put on 66 for the first wicket.
Rain reduced the Waringstown innings to 35 overs and they used up all but seven balls in reaching their revised target of 173, Lee Nelson seeing them home with 28 not out.
The defending champions however could not close the gap on leaders CIYMS who hammered Muckamore by 174 runs at Belmont in the other game to beat the weather on Saturday.
The top seven CI batsmen all reached 25 with half centuries for Jason van der Merwe (82 not out) and John Matchett (58) in a total of 314-6.
