England’s fielding keeps them in fifth ODI against Australia

The hosts making good progress in 5th ODI in Perth.

Eoin Morgan and Moeen Ali produced some fielding brilliance as England attempted to hold Australia back in the fifth and final one-day international.

The tourists were defending an under par total of 259 all out after being sent in to bat at the grand opening of Perth’s new Optus Stadium.

After 35 overs of the chase Australia had 189 for five, Marcus Stoinis the last man dismissed for 87 after he was well held at long-on by Tom Curran off Adil Rashid.

The host would have been in even ruder health had Morgan not produced a dead-eyed run out to see off Travis Head or Moeen failed to gather an unforgettable caught-and-bowled to remove Mitchell Marsh.

Joe Root had earlier top-scored for England, who hold an unassailable 3-1 lead, with an industrious 62.
