Experts are helping Stuart Thompson overcome his anxiety

By Ian Callender

Stuart Thompson is receiving treatment for performance anxiety as he continues to sit out the current season.

The Ireland international and Eglinton all-rounder travelled to Scotland with the Ireland 'A' team on June 5 but pulled out on the eve of the match and has not played since.

In a statement yesterday, he said: "I have been struggling this season, which culminated in needing a complete break from the game. With the backing of Cricket Ireland, I have received expert help and I now understand a lot more about my condition and how I can overcome it."

Kevin O'Brien and Sean Terry return to the Leinster Lightning team for tonight's Twenty20 inter-provincial at Merrion against the Northern Knights, who have dropped Peter Malan. Victory will give Lightning the title.
