Shane Getkate is back in the Ireland squad for next month's three-match T20 series against Afghanistan in Greater Noida.
The Instonians all-rounder played the last of his 17 internationals to date in the third-place play-off at the World T20 qualifiers in Dubai in November.
The 28-year-old is the only change from the squad that drew the T20 series in the West Indies last month, replacing Mark Adair who has been omitted to work on his fitness and conditioning as well as managing an ongoing ankle injury.
Adair played only three of Ireland's six white-ball games in the Caribbean and is still not back to full fitness, but the good news is that Boyd Rankin, who missed all three T20 games against West Indies, is included in the 14-man squad.
In the Future Tours Programme, Ireland were due to play a Test match and T20Is but it has been cut to just the three T20Is, a night match on Friday March 6 and two day games on the following Sunday and Tuesday.
Getkate, after a promising start to his Ireland career a year ago today in Oman, has a top score of 12 in his last seven T20 innings and taken four wickets in his last 21 overs.
But he now seems almost certain to get a chance to return to a team which will look to build on the first T20 game in Grenada, rather than the last one in St Kitts.
After scoring 208-7 and defending it in a thrilling four-run win against the world champions, they were bowled out for 138 in the third game of the series and the West Indies chased down their target in just 11 overs.
The series continues the countdown to the T20 World Cup in Australia, which for Ireland begins on October 18.
Squad: A Balbirnie (capt), G Delany, G Dockrell, S Getkate, J Little, B McCarthy, K O'Brien, B Rankin, S Singh, P Stirling, H Tector, L Tucker, G Wilson, C Young.
