Glendermott on the up as rain wipes out other Cup quarters
Glendermott are the only team through to the semi-finals of the North West Senior Cup after rain wiped out the other three games yesterday, including the big one at Donemana where only 11 overs were possible against holders Brigade.
It needed only 38 overs for Glendermott to complete a nine-wicket win over Killyclooney at The Rectory, the Championship side bowled out for just 75 with only two players reaching double figures as Sri Lankan professional Keshan Wijerathne and Gordon Cooke shared eight wickets. The home side beat the rain to knock off the runs at the start of the 14th over.
The other three quarter-finals, however, must all be rearranged. David Barr was the one wicket to fall at The Holm, caught behind off Bilawal Iqbal in the first over, but rain halted play after just 10 overs and when they got back on, only one more over was possible before the rain returned.
Brigade, though, had a good weekend, having won the top-of-the-table Long's SuperValu Premiership game at Beechgrove by six wickets to move 45 points clear of their fierce rivals.
Andy Britton continued his prolific early season form with the ball, taking 6-35 as Donemana were dismissed for 166. When Brigade batted, Gareth McKeegan survived a difficult chance to slip before he had scored and a 'dolly' on 22 and with that went any hopes of a Donemana comeback.
McKeegan and Barr put on 121 for the first wicket and although both were dismissed in the space of five runs and the visitors claimed another two wickets, it was all over in the 30th over.
