Liam Plunkett helps Melbourne Stars seal shock win over city rivals Renegades
Man-of-the-match Marcus Stoinis took three wickets and scored an unbeaten 70.
England paceman Liam Plunkett helped his Melbourne Stars side to a surprise six-wicket Big Bash League win over their city rivals.
Plunkett finished with figures of two for 21 from three overs as the bottom-placed Stars upset Melbourne Renegades at the Marvel Stadium.
The second-placed Renegades struggled after losing the toss and were bowled out for 121 in 19.3 overs.
Plunkett started the Renegades’ slide by removing opener Marcus Harris with the help of a brilliant one-handed catch from Dwayne Bravo.
The Surrey bowler also had Holland batsman Tom Cooper caught on the legside boundary for 24.
Dangerman Aaron Finch hit successive sixes off Plunkett but he went for 14, and the Renegades lost wickets at regular intervals as Marcus Stoinis finished with three for 19.

Man-of-the-match Stoinis followed that by making an unbeaten 70 from 65 balls at the top of the order.
Kane Richardson produced a four-over spell of two for 17, but Stoinis and Bravo (17 not out) saw the Stars home with four balls to spare to lift them three places in the table to fifth.
