Neil Rock is set to play his first game of the season for Northern Knights

Northern Knights skipper Mark Adair and Neil Rock return to the squad for today’s inter-provincial Cup match against defending champions Leinster Lightning at Stormont (10.45am).

It’s a first appearance of the season for wicket-keeper Rock after recovering from injury, while Adair, who scored a century for CIYMS on Saturday, missed last Thursday’s rain-affected victory against North West Warriors due to Covid.

North Down batsman Ani Chore, who was covering for Rock behind the stumps at Bready, retains his place in a 13-man squad after top scoring with 48 in the Knights’ disappointing total of 123.

Lightning, who were without no fewer than six bowlers for last week’s game against Munster Reds, welcome back three of them, including international Simi Singh from injury. Tall Malahide seamer David O’Halloran and Rory Anders are also named in the 12-man squad.

Josh Little is still missing with an elbow injury but Lightning head coach Nigel Jones is hopeful he will be available for their next match, against the Warriors at Eglinton on Monday.

Meanwhile, St Johnston’s reward for knocking out holders Brigade in the first round of the Sportshub Senior Cup is an away game at last year’s beaten finalists Eglinton in the last eight.

Burndennett, who shocked Ardmore, will be at home to league champions Bready but there was no luck for Ballyspallen who, after beating Coleraine, must travel to Newbuildings.
