Jacques Snyman won the battle of the professionals at Middle Road as Carrickfergus beat Lisburn to the first win in the Lagan Valley Steels T20 Cup last night.

Snyman finished 107 not out from 55 balls, with four fours and nine sixes as Carrick eased home with seven wickets and 19 balls to spare. The South African put on 97 for the third wicket with Jamie Holmes who scored 18.

Opposite number Faiz Fazal got Lisburn off to a fast start with 53 from just 19 balls (five fours and five sixes) but after his dismissal in the eighth over, the visitors managed only 61 runs.

A partnership of 82 in 41 balls between Ruhan Pretorius and AJ Moor was the highlight of North Down's third straight win in Group B.

Pretorius hit seven fours and two sixes in his 61 off 33 balls while Moor faced just 21 balls for his 42 in North Down's 194-5.

Muckamore, who lost their first game to Instonians, were bowled out for 124, despite skipper Neil Gill plundering 18 from five balls.

In the North West, Faughan Valley Cup holders Brigade were the quickest winners on the first night of the White Horse T20 Blitz, beating Strabane by nine wickets.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh made it four wins out of four to confirm their superiority in the Walton Tri-Series yesterday with a superb five wickets victory in the final against West Indies at Malahide. After rain interrupted the match for five and half hours, Bangladesh were set 213 to win in 24 overs and despite being reduced to 143-5 in the 16th over, Mosaddek Hossain hit five sixes in a whirlwind 26-ball innings of 52 not out, to see his side home with seven balls to spare.

Middle Road: Lisburn 154-9 (F Fazal 53, J Waite 39, A Berry 23; CJ van der Walt 3-27, A Haggan 2-31) Carrickfergus 157-3 (16.5 overs, J Snyman 107 not out). Carrickfergus won by 7 wickets.

The Green: North Down 194-5 (R Pretorius 61, AJ Moor 42, R Haire 31 not out; N Gill 2-43) Muckamore 124 (19.4 overs, F Iqbal 33, S Gordon 21; R Haire 3-39, A Shields 2-7). North Down won by 70 runs.


Sandel Lodge: Coleraine 136-9 (D Madden 30, S Campbell 20, M Hutchinson 20; D Corscadden 2-13, B Louw 2-22, S Kennedy 2-29) Ballyspallen 97 (20 overs, G Kennedy 47; S Campbell 3-20, V Chopra 2-19). Coleraine won by 39 runs.
