It's the one Saturday of the season in the NCU when Section One teams can compete on level terms with the Premier League — first round day in the Gallagher Challenge Cup.

Ballymena, Cliftonville Academy, Derriaghy and Armagh all have home advantage in their bid to cause an upset with tomorrow’s match of the day at Queensway where Derriaghy, with nine league wins out of nine, host 2018 winners Waringstown.

All eight top flight sides are back in action on Sunday with North Down at home to Civil Service North and Waringstown against CIYMS headlining a full programme of Robinson Services Premier League action and international players are available.

Meanwhile, Ireland Women were beaten by Lancashire in their T20 match at Old Trafford yesterday by 54 runs.

After the county side had put on 127 for the first wicket in 13 overs, a superb final four overs by Laura Delany and three wickets for Orla Prendergast restricted them to 156 for five, but Ireland’s reply never got going and they were bowled out in the final over for 102, with only four batters reaching double figures.

In the Future Series, Emerging Knights beat the Emerging Warriors in the opening game of the 45-over series at Ardmore by 53 runs.
