Bradford keeper Colin Doyle informed he's been released... while on holiday!
Colin Doyle was relaxing on holiday, enjoying some down time before the return of the new Football League season.
Having played in the Republic of Ireland's friendlies against France and the United States earlier this month, Doyle and his family had travelled to the Dominican Republic for a short getaway.
However, the 33-year old discovered while he was away that, back in England, club Bradford had decided they no longer required his services.
Despite being offered a new deal at the end of the season, new manager Michael Collins - hired earlier this week - clearly deemed Doyle surplus to requirements.
And the Irishman took to Twitter to convey his disappointment at the decision taken by the Bantams.
Just wanted to say a big thanks to all the Bradford fans for the fantastic support they have given me over the last 2 seasons. Unfortunately I have just found out from the Club that they have decided to go a different route. I loved playing in front of you every week. ☹️ #bcafc pic.twitter.com/FtxWtIlU30— Colin Doyle (@ColinDoyle01) June 21, 2018
He wasn't the only one either, as wife Rebecca also decided to weigh in, this the first of several Tweets posted about the situation.
Gutted for my husband after 7 weeks to find out like this, while we was away on holiday. https://t.co/xmNj37kVrq— Rebecca Doyle (@beckyd440) June 21, 2018
Doyle made 88 appearances at Valley Parade after joining from Blackpool for £1 in 2016 during the club's financial struggles.
No doubt the experienced stopper will have plenty of suitors, with several League One sides already believed to be interested in bringing Doyle in for next season.
