Champions League draw: Linfield will play Celtic if they see off San Marino champions

Celtic await winners of Linfield and San Marino champions

By Gareth Hanna

Linfield could take on Brendan Rodgers' Celtic in the Champions League second qualifying round.

The Blues have been drawn to face San Marino champions La Fiorita in the opening round and will be heavy favourites to get through to take on the Scottish Premiership winners. Linfield or La Fiorita have been drawn at home in the second round first leg, scheduled to take place on July 11/12 with the second leg a week later on July 18/19.

Reports on Twitter are claiming that both Celtic and Linfield have 'ruled out' playing the first leg on July 12.

Linfield's first round opponents La Fiorita have lost all of their last 10 European fixtures, conceding 35 goals and scoring only once.

Meanwhile, Rangers, Crusaders, Coleraine and Ballymena United all discovered their Europa League fate today in the first and second round qualifying draws. There is even the prospect that Polish side Lech Poznan, famed for their vociferous supporters, could be heading for the Coleraine Showgrounds.
