Crusaders and Ards into quarters of League Cup

By Gareth Hanna

Declan Caddell netted a 75th minute winner to send Crusaders into the quarter-finals of the Bet McLean League Cup with a 3-2 win over Coleraine while Ards crushed Glenavon 4-0.

The duo join Linfield, Ballyclare Comrades, Cliftonville, Dungannon Swifts, Carrick Rangers and Ballymena United in the last eight.

Crusaders 3-2 Coleraine

Declan Caddell clinched the win as Crusaders came from 1-0 down at half-time to beat the current Danske Bank Premiership leaders.

Gareth McConaghie had opened the scoring early on for the visitors but Jordan Forsythe converted Gavin Whyte's cross shortly after half-time to level. The in-form Forsythe put the Crues ahead but Jamie McGonigle made it 2-2, setting the stage for Caddell's winner.

Ards 4-0 Glenavon

Jonny Frazer netted twice as Ards blew Glenavon away at the Bangor Fuels Arnea.

Michael Ruddy opened the scoring from the spot before the half-hour mark and Frazer had scored with a driven shot and a header by the time Guillaume Keke poked home a late fourth.
