Cumbrians snap up Irish starlet

Carlisle have completed the permanent signing of striker Paddy Madden from Bohemians for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

The 20-year-old, who has played for Ireland at Under-19s, Under-21 and Under-23 level, has signed a two-and-a-half year contract.

Cumbrians manager Greg Abbott said: "Patrick has an excellent reputation and comes to us highly recommended."

He added: "We've had him watched and he's a striker who likes to be involved and who can also use the ball.

"We think he'll fit in with the way we want to play and has the type of attitude that will make him an asset to the squad. We're really looking forward to working with him."
