Hope Eu can join us

By Steven Beacom

Michael O'Neill has spoken of his hope that Martin O'Neill will join him at the Euro 2016 finals.

The Northern Ireland manager will be an interested spectator at the Aviva stadium in Dublin tonight when the elder O'Neill's Republic of Ireland side face Bosnia-Herzegovina in the second leg of the Euro play-off with the scores tied at 1-1.

Northern Ireland, of course, have already qualified for France and if the Republic join them it will be the first time in history that both nations have reached the same major tournament.

It would also see two Ulstermen manage at the same major tournament for the first time in history.

Northern Ireland boss O'Neill told the Belfast Telegraph: "I would like to see the Republic qualify for Martin and his players. I have a good relationship with Martin and I know he has worked really hard with his team.

"It is going to be interesting to see how Martin approaches it tactically. The dynamic will change in the tie if Bosnia score because it wipes out the Republic's away goal. I'm looking forward to the game."
