Mature Norwood taking his club game to new heights

By Steven Beacom

Oliver Norwood hit the perfect 10 for Northern Ireland, playing in every Group F game in the successful Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

He came of age as an international in that period.

And that's the way he feels about his club career which is going from strength to strength with Championship outfit Reading.

Norwood scored a clever free-kick for his side in their 2-2 draw with Huddersfield on Tuesday continuing his fine form.

Speaking about his consistent performances for club and country, the midfielder said: "I just think it's a maturity thing.

"I know I'm still only 24 but this is my fourth season now playing in the Championship. I think I've realised what it takes to be an effective and good player at this level.

"And obviously playing international football with Northern Ireland has really helped too."
