El Clasico dates revealed as Real Madrid and Barcelona prepare to renew rivalry - but not on Sky Sports

By Josh Bunting

Real Madrid and Barcelona have learnt the dates of the first El Clasico in the 2018/19 campaign with the Spanish giants set for the first showdown on the Saturday 28 October at Camp Nou.

The return El Clasico at the Bernabeu will be on Sunday 3 March 2019.

Unlike previous seasons in the Spanish top flight, the system will be non symmetrical with teams no longer playing each other in the same order as the first half of the season.

Holders Barcelona start with a home game against Alaves whereas Julien Lopetegui starts his reign as Real Madrid manager against Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The pick of the first round fixtures is undoubtedly Atletico Madrid’s mouthwatering clash away to Valencia at the Mastella stadium.

Sevilla travel to new boys Rayo Vallecano five days after playing Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final.

The first Madrid derby post-Cristiano Ronaldo arrives on September 30th with Los Blancos hosting the fixture.

The El Clasico games and all La Liga fixtures will vanish from Sky Sports' schedule this season as the rights have been won by online broadcaster Eleven Sports, who will also show golf's USPGA Championship next month.
