Europa League: Point secures Stoke’s progress
Stoke City 1 Dynamo Kiev 1: Kenwyne Jones expressed his pride after his late header secured Stoke the point they needed against Dynamo Kiev to secure a place in the Europa League knockout stages.
Kiev deservedly took the lead in the 28th minute when Oleksandr Aliyev's shot was turned into his own net by Matthew Upson.
Stoke rallied after the break and finally found the equaliser nine minutes from time when Jones nodded in Jermaine Pennant's cross.
"We know it was important for us to get something to make it into the next round so I'm happy we pulled it off in the end," said Jones.
"Kiev are a very good team and they've been playing in Europe for years and years. We went 1-0 down but have a never-say-die attitude and we came out in the second half and got the goal."
Jones believes the Potters can be proud of their performance in Europe this season.
"No one expected us to do this well and we've turned a few heads and top the group," said Jones.
