Liverpool draw Hoffenheim in Champions League play-off, Celtic face Khazakhstan side

Liverpool and Celtic have both discovered their Champions League play-off round opponents .

Who will Liverpool face?

The Anfield side are in the non-champions side of the draw and will come up against German side Hoffenheim. Liverpool will travel away for the first leg on either August 15 or 16 and host the return leg at Anfield on August 22 or 23. The tie sees Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino face the side he spent five years with until his move to England in 2015.

The full League Route draw is:

Istanbul Basaksehir v Sevilla, BSC Young Boys v CSKA Moscow,Napoli v Nice, Hoffenheim v Liverpool, Sporting Lisbon v FCSB (Steaua Bucharest)

Who did Celtic draw?

Celtic have drawn Khazakhstan champions Astana in the Champions Route to the Group Stages. Celtic will host the first leg on July 15 or 16 and make the long trip for the second leg on August 22 or 23. The two sides met in last season's Third Qualifying Round, Celtic winning 3-2 on aggregate.

The full Champions Route draw is: Qarabag FK v FC Copenhagen, APOEL v Slavia Prague, Olympiakos v HMK Rijeka, Celtic v FC Astana, Hapoel v MK Maribor

  • Meanwhile, in the Europa League, Everton drew Croatian side Hajduk Split.
