Stars past and present give Pirlo a big send-off
Italian midfield maestro Andrea Pirlo got a star-studded send-off at the San Siro as some of the world's top stars descended on Milan for a testimonial in honour of the retiring legend.
Pirlo signed off after glittering spells for AC Milan, Inter, Juventus and New York City, as well as an illustrious international career in which he won 116 caps and the 2006 World Cup.
Stars both past and present were in attendance at the San Siro for the testimonial, which ended in a thrilling 7-7 draw.
A host of Pirlo's former team-mates lined up on the night for a blue team and a white team.
The blue team included stars such as Cafu, Andriy Shevchenko, Carlos Tevez, Clarence Seedorf and Gianluigi Buffon, while the white team had former England ace Frank Lampard, Alessandro del Piero, Francesco Totti, Leonardo Bonucci, Dida, Rui Costa and Christian Vieri among their ranks, with the youthful Alexandre Pato the stand-out player.
Pirlo received an emotional send-off when he was substituted five minutes from the end to a standing ovation, and was replaced by his son Nicolo.
