Super Hoops have one foot in group stage

By Adam McKendry

Celtic took a massive step towards the group stages of the Champions League after they defeated Israeli champions Hapoel Be'er Sheva 5-2 at Celtic Park last night.

Leigh Griffiths scored two goals including a wonder free-kick as the Scottish champions seized full control of the tie, with the return leg in Israel next Tuesday.

"It was a brilliant result for us," manager Brendan Rodgers said after the game.

"But we're not getting carried away.

"We still have a massive job to do out there."

Dundalk were beaten 2-0 by Polish side Legia Warsaw in their first leg tie, which was played at the Aviva Stadium.
