We were playing Playstation football: Mourinho fumes after victorious Manchester United ease off in Champions League rout

By Robert Jones

Manchester United strolled to a 3-0 victory over Swiss side Basel in their Champions league return last night but boss Jose Mourinho was angry with his side.

The United chief cut a relieved figure after Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford hit the target at Old Trafford.

"After 2-0 everything changed, we stopped playing seriously and stopped making right decisions," said Mourinho (right).

"We could have put ourselves in trouble. We were playing fantasy football, Playstation football. I don't like it, flicks and tricks. We gambled and you have to respect your opponent. I don't know if goal difference will play a part.

"We lost position, our shape, we lost balls in easy situations. I didn't like it, the players relaxed too much."

The win, however, came at a cost to United who lost Paul Pogba to a hamstring injury.
