Football rumours from the media
Jurgen Klopp, Fred, and the son of a former Owls striker are all being discussed in the papers.
Brazilian star Fred is due to head to the north west, with Manchester United and Manchester City both scrapping it out for the signature of the 25-year-old midfielder, according to the Daily Mirror. Shakhtar Donetsk have put a price tag of around £50million on the player, which may be too rich for Arsenal who are also said to be interested.
What the papers say
Jurgen Klopp’s guiding of Liverpool towards the top of the Premier League table has caught the eye of the reigning LaLiga champions Real Madrid, according to the Sun. The Spanish giants are said to be unimpressed with Real’s league form – they currently sit fourth – and could be interested in bringing in Klopp to replace Zinedine Zidane.
Everton are interested in signing Robbie Brady from Burnley, according to the Express. The Republic of Ireland international was wanted by the Toffees when he was playing at Norwich and the club could be interested in making another move.
Another potential arrival at Goodison Park is West Ham left-back Aaron Cresswell, the Sun reports. Boss Sam Allardyce signed Cresswell when he was at the helm of the Hammers and a £25million offer could be put on the table this summer, the paper said.
Manchester United are on the verge of making their first summer signing in the form of George Hirst, son of former Sheffield Wednesday favourite David, the Mirror reports. Hirst Junior is currently on the books at the Owls and is also wanted by Leicester, according to the paper.
