Former Tottenham winger Cliff Jones ‘feeling much better’ after being taken ill

Jones was taken ill before kick-off at Wembley.

Tottenham great Cliff Jones is home and feeling much better after being taken ill before his former club’s win against Arsenal at Wembley.

Former Spurs and Wales winger Jones, 83, was treated by medical staff after feeling unwell before kick-off in Saturday’s 1-0 triumph for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Jones posted on Twitter: “Back home and feeling much better. Many thanks to @SpursOfficial and the Wembley medical team for their excellent care & attention.

“Thanks for all your messages and well done to the lads, the win was better than any medicine!!”

Tottenham had earlier wished Jones a quick recovery and said on Twitter: “Everyone at the club wishes Cliff Jones a speedy recovery after he was taken ill before today’s game.

“We are in contact with Cliff and his family as he recovers at home.”

Jones scored 135 goals in 318 appearances for Tottenham between 1958-68 and played a key role in their double-winning side during the 1960/61 season.

The Wales international made 59 appearances for his country and also had spells at first club Swansea and Fulham.

Harry Kane’s 32nd goal of the season secured Tottenham a 1-0 win in the north London derby, lifting them up to third place in the Premier League standings.
