Boyd benched on Scotland return

Kris Boyd has failed to make the starting line-up for Scotland's friendly against Czech Republic as he bids to end his international exile.

The Rangers striker is set to start on the bench at Hampden tonight after boss Craig Levein named the starting line-up he hopes to field.

Ibrox team-mate Kenny Miller will lead the attack, while James McFadden and Lee Wallace have both been named in the team despite struggling with injury.

Levein is aware that not all of the Tartan Army will welcome back Boyd if he comes off the bench, after he refused to play under former manager George Burley.

“I've tried to make it plain to everybody that I see it as a new chapter,” said the Scotland boss.

“I believe there will be people who resent the fact that I have picked some players who didn't want to play under George, but that is my own decision.”
