Northern Ireland are ready for a mighty test against Germany after overcoming Luxembourg 1-0 in a low key friendly at Windsor Park last night.

The famous old stadium will be rocking on Monday when Joachim Low's side arrive for a titanic Group C battle.

Northern Ireland warmed up for that showdown with a victory helped by a bizarre own goal in the first half.

Kevin Malget gift wrapped O'Neill's side the lead when he headed the ball into his own net in the 37th minute.

Several key men were rested by the Northern Ireland chief but he will be encouraged by a clean bill of health and the performances of Gavin Whyte, Jordan Thompson and substitute Shayne Lavery.

Germany will be aiming to knock Northern Ireland off the top spot on goal difference with a crucial victory over the Netherlands in Hamburg tonight.
