Royal appointment: Giorgio Chiellini parades the trophy as Italy celebrate Euro 2020 success with their fans in Rome

Inspirational Euro winning captain Giorgio Chiellini was crowned the King of Italy yesterday after Roberto Mancini’s all-conquering stars returned to Rome.
Following Sunday’s dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over England in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley, veteran defender Chiellini, a rock for the Azzuri during the finals, led his team-mates on an open-top bus parade through the eternal city.
Thousands of fans lined the streets of Rome to welcome their heroes back.
The players and staff enjoyed a special reception with President of Italy Sergio Mattarella before going to visit Italian Premier Mario Draghi at Chigi Palace.
