Dynamite Dutch leave Germans in a real spin
Germany 2 Netherlands 4
Goals from Frenkie De Jong and Georginio Wijnaldum gave the Netherlands' Euro 2020 qualification campaign a timely boost - in Northern Ireland's Group C - with an enthralling 4-2 win over old rivals Germany in Hamburg last night.
A goal down for much of the game, the Dutch fought back in an explosive second half, as the two neighbours renewed their rivalry again in their fourth meeting in the last 11 months.
Ronald Koeman's side came into the game under pressure. Three points from their opening two games meant that defeat would see them slip nine points adrift of the automatic qualification spots in Group C.
Serge Gnabry gave his side the lead with a poacher's finish on nine minutes.
De Jong grabbed the equaliser just before the hour mark.
Minutes later, the Dutch were ahead, Jonathan Tah bundling the ball into his own net.
Matthijs De Ligt brought down a ball with his outstretched hand in the box, Toni Kroos smashing home the penalty.
Donyell Malen slotted home in the 79th minute to make it 3-2. Wijnaldum added a fourth in inury-time.
The Netherlands narrow the gap to Germany to just three points, having played a game less, with Northern Ireland three points clear at the top.
