Gerry salutes the Best tribute ever
Northern Ireland hero Gerry Armstrong has hailed the statue of the late, great George Best outside Windsor Park as a fitting tribute to the iconic star.
Hundreds of Best fans and friends of his family were in attendance yesterday as George's sister Barbara McNarry and Northern Ireland goalkeeping legend Pat Jennings unveiled the new sculpture by Tony Currie.
The statue which depicts George with a ball at his feet was made public on what would have been his 73rd birthday.
Armstrong said: "It is brilliant that we finally have a statue of George in Belfast. It is fantastic that it is beside Windsor Park where he shone for Northern Ireland and the fact it is an action shot with a ball is a fitting tribute to a great player and a great man. He always loved having a ball at his feet."
